    Dual pvs holes

I'm going to have some PVS vent holes milled in my scorpion prop.

I'm thinking about getting dual PVS vent holes.

Any one with a bravo xs or other dual vented prop that can measure how close the holes are to each other? Might like to get the distance center to center and also the distance between them on the max diameter (so not the hole but the milled surface).

Is dual venting necessary on the scorpion?

    Thanks

So an extra vent hole would probably be a good idea. I would like to use it for skiing.

How much rpm before it grabs and go?

I have a 3 blade with single PVS so not able to help with dims...

But I'd like to add a question if that's ok:
Could adding PVS holes to a balanced and blueprinted prop throw off the balance/ blueprinting?

*Edit* Spoke with machinist, impact edm or milling and coolant will minimize heat, symetric locations about OD retain balance.
    More risk in fixturing/ handling
Real question is do you drill your shiny new b&b prop or keep it pristine and buy another one with PVS..

Yes it could throw the balance off, but not the blue printing of the blades.. easy to re-balance it afterwards

about the largest size hole is 1 inch as from what I have seen.
I would go for 3 holes of 1 inch diameter max size on a 3 blade then try it before going double holes.
as for using it as a water ski prop its like using a prop with 2 inch lower pitch for pulling away.
so if 2 inches less pitch will pull your skier up then you just might be on the right track, once on the plane it reverts back to being normal prop.

best thing to do if you want to have pvs plugs is get the plugs first and drill to the size of the plugs.
bottom of the vent need to be atleast 1/4 inch away from gearcase to work good. and do check there is no webs that would be hit with the drill.

Bought a 30 pitch bravo one (4 blade) with (4) 1.25" holes in it last Friday. Still haven't spun it yet but it'll get ran this week...

Thanks, I completely agree with very extreme. is exactly what my face looked like when I learned of it. Hoping for something similar to this face when it goes in the water. We will soon see...

Haha...exactly! We will see today what she does...bout to head to the ramp.

I got this LH30 as a package deal with another bravo LH24 (drag application) and a LH Bob's lower from a super good dude on here (Engineermike). So LH is a new world to me...so are Bravo props btw. Previously I spun a RH Hpdi case (factory cle) with several different props...3, 4 and even a 5 blade in 25 to 28 pitches. My favorite RH was a 28 trophy plus...has the holes but not this big.

I did run the 24 Bravo already...extremely violent out of the hole and just keeps pulling hard all the way to the limiter...

OP...sorry for hijack. I would tune your scorpion for the main thing you want to do with it...scream and fly! And then pick up a very inexpensive/older used 4 or 5 blade in a lower pitch for skiing only. You will be much happier with a prop for each activity. Those stump pulling props are much better for your boat and motor too when only skiing. Prop changes are easy enough at the ramp and even on the bank as long as don't drop anything. I carry spare prop hardware in case I do that...I learned to do that the hard way...

phillnjack...ran the LH 30 bravo today with the 1.25" holes and I was amazed at the holeshot. Slips no more than half a second (perfect) and rpm's come up to upper 4k's then it grabs and jumps out of the water. If I floor it coming out I'll get another half second slip right after the boat leaves the water, rpm's come up again and then it lands and hooks up hard. Both hookups are bordering violent. If I just baby it coming out I'll only get the first slip and then I'm out and running clean. I think the second slip is only caused by the blades getting high on the water line. Night and day difference from my vented RH 28 trophy II...especially holeshot and acceleration.
