I wish you all the best of luck in this storm. After staying at my house on the water on the south shore of Long Island during Sandy, I know the stress you're going through. Take all the precautions you can to keep yourself safe.

Parks depending on strength where the eye is when it makes it your way , it could be suicide , I know your area , I don't believe I would ride it out unless you go to one of the high rise buildings near you
you could have mega waves on top of the surge, When I chased hurricane Hugo 1989 Charleston SC most houses on the beach were gone in the Mount Pleasant area north of Charleston, ya got to respect mother nature at times
like this, be safe .
Just heard on TV 1,000 people are staying on Pine Island , north of Ft Myers the Police and Fire depts. left the area with all equipment , It all sucks . I believe we are going to lose some stubborn people. We have invented the world; WE see

The shelter for us is where the tornados are we could not leave we are not in flood zone and we are in a shelter within the house. Next time I am too old for this crap but I had to stay I am watching my neighbor a blind Vietnam Vet and other neighbors that need help it's God's Will. Wife also had responsibility for the safety of her students. Or maybe I'm just ignorent.

Getting hit by outer bands short power outages
hearing bangs from time to time , I'm now in a evacuation zone , not worried about the surge , I'm 4 miles inland 8 feet above sea
I left the dump trucks loaded parked around house bucket truck at the front door , 40 ton crane,
had my guys reduce trim big trees near house
looks like eye will come over house , back in 1985 I believe , my Uncle just died and a Hurricane was going right for my Aunts house in Smithtown long island, so my mother and I drove from Niagara Falls to Smithtown
The eye passed over us , dead calm .... weird , at one point we had the garage door open guessing what tree was going to fall next
should have cut down those pine trees...We have invented the world; WE see

I am having coffee and eating cookies this am. Not much happening here. The wife cooked all the food in the freezer we couldn't cook w/o an oven. Hydrostream and camaro are in the garage, 4 wheelers in the living room. (wife loves that) Antennae taken down. Man, i'm wore out from helping board peoples houses up and doing my own prep. My place in Longboat will be history I think. Sadly, it's been in the family since the 60's. It's 200 yards from the gulf and 200 yards from the bay on the narrowest part of the island. Sayanara, LBK house....Had a lot of good times in that place...Y'all stay safe and some prayers wouldn't hurt either. On a slightly funny note, I had some charter customers call and ask if our fishing trip is still on for next friday....Hahahaha. I just asked them if they would mind tent vamping on the beach Since the hotel they were staying at is directly on the gulf....

It's been a crazy last 3 days prepping all the schools to be shelters asking for custodians to leave there families to go and work the shelter, making sure all are stocked with toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, then coming home to get my house in order, my wife's dad who is a navy vet in a wheel chair along with both my 77 year old parents next door have everything they need all cars in garages praying for the best, most worried about small tornados as a few have been spotted just a few miles north and south of me. Prayers to all in its path as well.
