On your installation do you run a check valve at the exhaust plate so water pump works fine on idle or you feel it isn’t necessary? Blow off valve around 20lbs?

Will be installing a pair for my 260s this month, so want to get it right the first time

    Thanks
    Frank

You must have a check valve if running to the exhaust plate. Otherwise the water pump will direct the water out the pickup tube and not the engine at low speeds or idle. I have used a plumbing check valve from a hardware store.

I do not use the exhaust plate. I went to the waterpump. Have no idle issues at all. Works great.

If you run it straight to the exhaust plate, the water pump handles idle and low speeds. But what happens on plane when the water pump is spinning with no water because that is the reason you went for a transom pickup in the first place. It does not seem like the water pump will last long. Or does water flow down the water tube into the impeller when on place from the pressure of the pickup?

    Hope that makes sense

^yes, there's always enough dribbling down the tube that the impeller stays "lubed"

Pick-up to strainer, strainer to top of gear case. Strainer has a adjustable pressure relief valve preset @12psi. Everything else ( over 12psi)gets dumped overboard.

Filtration and a place to tie the relief valve into the system. I have a few of these if you are wanting to buy pieces, let me know.

When you do a transom water pick and you put a noise cone on bo you need to fill in the water pick up holes on the side of the gearcase in?

and do you need to block off the water intakes on the sporty or can you run both without starving the pump? im on the verge of loosing pressure so id like to go higher with the option of comming back down if it dosent work out. id do a more premanent rigging after i know it works better with the remote pickup.
