I agree Lynn, I thought all the 3 Rams were the same. I know that the single ram integral would work off the 40-50 hp 4 cylinder but unsure if it would have enough "up" power, would probably have to do some pressure regulator mods and unsure if that would do it. I sent him the pictures of what I needed as far as measurements and he says it's identical on the 50 classic 4. It'll be here Sunday so I'll find out

Crankshaft got back today from being repaired, looks great! I also included a picture of a stock crank in the background so u can see the difference in the placement of the crank throwsClick image for larger version.

Does anyone know if the t2x was internally or externally balanced? Just curious because I'm looking at swapping out flywheels.

There has never been any convention against swapping flywheels, so I am certain they are not balanced to the motor. If they were they would be marked with the motor's serial number or at least a balancing group number. To my knowledge, no such markings exist.

I was told once by some olds guys at Merc that some guys, don't know who were adding weight to the counter weights. Another thing to consider is equal balance with big end mass , bolts bearings big end of rod and counter weights. Keeping all reciprocating, small end mass including pistons as light as possible and not part of the rotating balance. Forces will be secondary for recip and for / aft only to be absorbed by powerhead, leg mass and mounts.

I was just curious because of this, balance holes drilled in the bottom of the flywheel. And the Pistons will get lightened and the rods equalized just like my 3 litre.Click image for larger version.

I don't think it's a problem, as many of these T2 engines have been converted over to ADI because of the lack of timing belts . The crank in my T2 has had some balancing work ,as have the rods , I had to replace the pistons this summer , I had a set of Art pistons that were very close in weight [all were same grams ] and a set of the newer style rods also very close in weight ,after installing these it seems to be as smooth or better than before . Probably better at idle as the original pistons were modified on the intake side to uncover the intake ports 0,015 earlier than a stock piston . The video I posted on this thread was with the new pistons and rods ,

Why not just have the crank and flywheel balanced. The guy that did mine dynamic balanced the crank then put the flywheel on and balanced that.

I was told by some old guys in WI about a shop I believe in the Clearwater area that is the only one they trust. I've recommended him with contact a couple times on here but now can't find his contact. I'll try to find it, it's his business, mechanical auto repair with balancing I believe. He knows his stuff, talked with him and he knows his outboards. I've checked the search feature but can't find the threads, checked my posts but haven't been able to go back a year or two.

A local engine builder, I'm sure you know or can find someone local to you too do it. I didn't match all the rods and pistons. As long as you have a "matched" pair put them 180° from each other. That only works with inlines. The pistons were all very close, the wrist pins varied quite a bit.
