    Michigan brass prop

I found this on Craigslist and had to have it. The guy said he had a Hydrostream vixen with a 1250 i6 merc that he raced in the '70s. Numbers on it are P23-R, 1471, aj 700, PA E873. The first two I think are model numbers. I would assume it's 23 pitch It measures 12 3/4" diameter. It looks to have been worked a few times. I'm going to try it on my viper with 1400 i6 merc. I'm not looking for it to be the fastest but era correct and bad ass! Any info would be cool.

I never had much luck with 2 blades. Tried 4 or 5 of them. Other guys had some great success with them so you just have to try it and see. One thing is certain, they are much harder on gearcases than 3 or 4 blade props because the more blades the less vibration.

It ran fair I gained a couple mph vs the lazer2 22p I had on it. Took more trim to get it to break loose and it turned allot more rpm. I have a'72 1400 inline 6 merc that's ported and balanced, revved to 7200. Typically the lazer was running about 6200. I'll probably end up hanging it on the wall. I got it for $80!

26 small ear Chopper should be close to the best for that rig for top end. It'll beat the crap out of the 2 blade Michigan by close to 10 mph.

Anybody up there able to beat a lot of cup into the prop, one of the sweetest props I ever ran was a brass two blade, sounded like a Singer sewing machine when I first put it on, took it to Delta propeller in Cleves, Ohio and heard this pounding and thought "I hope that ain't mine", it was, ran great after that. Also, what is this TOP bolted to, any pictures??? Good luck and be careful.

With my current setup I ran a 26 chopper and with no lwp and no more height left in the Jack plate, 3" below pad, it had too much lift. It would go from dragging hull to kite in a bump of the trim switch. I only had it on for a day it took off so bad one time when it came down it hooked and I did a 180 and bent the steering wheel. The plan is to cut one of the mids I have to 15" this winter and put a lwp on.

The brass prop will be a wall decoration.

    Yep, jack plate killed it.
