Phantom 25 Verado 400R set up
Hi!
I have approx 50 hours on my new Verado 400R Phantom 25 combo. Top speed is 86 mph at 7,040 rpms with two persons.
The prop I have is a reworked REV4 25 pitch which I bought second hand for my 350 Sci. It was tuned for a Airship RIB 28 footer. Its heavy cupped both close to the hub and on the tip. I have been reccommended to try a stock REV4 25 RXP, since its not cupped so much. I presume I will get this prop soon.
I need to run the propshaft at least 0,75 inches above the bottom with the REV4. No positive trim. Lower propshaft height, the speed drops. Higher, the slip increases. So I am looking for a prop which carry the bow better at high propshaft height.
Have anyone tested the Max5 against props such as REV4, Turbo TXP, BLlades 4-Speed OB/FX, Bravo FS, etc?
Thanks!

Toffen, I have been running the bblades o/b's for a year now on my twin fountain cc and there great. Call brett he is easy to talk to. He will get you were you need to be. I lifted my motors and the o/b's were the ticket.

Hi!
Still snow here, so testing will start primo May. I am also doing some other tweaks to the boat, and really look forward to some hard figures.
Hopefully we can get it to 87,5 mph with 8% slip.

My slip dropped from 12 to 8% going from a pro max to a max5. At 60 mph cruise, my slip went from 30 to 20% and it went from 3 to 4 mpg.
With bravo1's my slip was off the charts.

I'm running a cambered skeg as well. Not sure what you mean by joystick cambered.

Hi!
I have a cambered skeg as well but different from yours.....
Its not that cambered. Look like you have a torque tab?

Hi,
Got my boat on the water today
The prop worked well. Managed 86,3 mph out of the box with the propshaft 1 inches above. I have a notch of 8 inches pluss jackplate 4,5 inches. So in real world is approx even with the bottom as the water hits higher with notch and jack.
I will go 0,5 inch higher and see. Slip is very very low. 6,5 % on a non stepped V hull. I need to get the rpms up 150 rpm to get 100% out of the engine, so I will try to raise it. The slip may well go up, but getting it to 7,000 rpms will give me more horsepower.
Cruise speed was good as well. 50,5 mph at 4,000 rpms and 64 mph at 5,000 rpms. With the REV4 25 pitch I managed 48 mph at 4,000 rpms and 61-62 mph at 5,000 rpms.
Hopefully with a little tweak we can it to 87 mph and I am very happy.

You definitely need to go up. The max5 will maintain low slip even really high and getting that big gearcase out of the water is key.
