Its glassed over putty and will be used as a traditional mold with a large number of parts produced from it. I can't believe the demand and what people want to pay for that little boat. As always I am happy to see those guys doing well.

Im blown away at the way these molds are made these days. Truly amazing technology. The ability to produce so many parts from these molds is the best part.

The deck has been milled and coated. Getting ready for putty application then CNC machine again with finer and finer CNC (drill) bits

The hull will be sanded down to 2000 grit, then gel

Is it an optical illusion or is the bottom concave? I know nothing about flats boats so this may be normal. I guess you would call it negative deadrise

This is the 16 foot flat boats that Doug built years ago. Fat cat bought the molds from him and its in their production line. Its a little missile.

Awesome !!!! I know you only posted yesterday, but fast forward to the completed boat ! haha.

Question... Is the foam mold strong enough to walk on? will it crack if you put pressure on 1 small spot, say kneeling on it?

Sr. said they're strong enough to walk on, but like any mold, they should not be walked on to keep their pristine condition.

The part is being released from a slick sanded surface and its very easy to repair. I watched them pull the last 35 and was like clockwork.
