Where to put in water pressure gauge on a 2.4.
I have a 91 merc 150 xr4. Adding a jack plate so want to add a pressure gauge too. Not sure where your supposed to add one. Thanks.

Ok. I'll check. Manuel for the motor just came in today so ill look in that too. As for the jack plate it's hydrologic, but my question was referring to the actual engines tilt pump. I saw in the new wire harness I got that the brown and white wire is for a tilt sensor, so was curious in how to add one.

I may may be lost or misunderstood. Typically jack plates move the motor up and down. The trim function trims and tilts the motor. Your 150 should already have a trim pump. I'm surprised it doesn't have a trim meter and sensor. The mounting for a sensor should be spelled out in your shop manual. If you have to buy a sensor, the sensor should have the wires necessary to hook up to the meter. Search online for the sensor to get an idea what it looks like

Yep and no sensor. So I'll do what you said and see what I can find. Thanks.

Oh man awesome. I looked in the Manual. The one that has all ten years of 2strokes in it lol and it wasn't making sense. That does.
Hey bruce2 why do you have the t? I understand one hose feeds the gauge up front, where's the larger one go?
Krazymann your engine is so clean!!!
anyone know where a engine tilt sensor would go?

I think the large hose goes to poppit valve ...this is a 2.0/2.5 motor.....1995 merc 135..

Few questions lol. Thanks for any help. It's greatly appreciated.
1). Still not really sure where to put the tilt sensor. Hers a pic of the port side of the motor.
2). I see where to connect the water pressure line. Splice a t into the line that feeds the poppet valve. The tube that came with my gauge is a little 1/8th inch. Will that work fine?
3). Any ideas what this open bib is for. Comes off the strbd head?
4). And is this extra fuel line thats capped off there so if you wanted to run a fuel pressure gauge? Is it worth doing on these non fuel injected motors. Would seem that if your not getting the pressure, your not going to run much and at all. Then again it would also let you know if your carbs are clogged or fuel line wasn't feeding pressure. Thoughts?
5) my buddy said I can get rid of this control box, I think it's the idle something controller.? Yay nay?
6). Same buddy mentioned on his steering shaft there is bleeder valves for the hydraulic lines. is that what these Allen bolts are? And I use them in the same sense?
Sorry for all the questions. Thanks y'all!

6. The allen head is the bleeder. Mine all have brake line style bleeders with the hollow nipple thing.
5. The control box is removable. never done it, it was always already done on my motors.
4. Fuel pressure gauge is always a good thing. But when your motor dies and you take off the cover, its always going to read zero. LOL.
2. The water pressure line is always smaller than the speedometer line, like 1/8" . Not that it matters, just saying its the small one.
3. Not sure where it goes, but if your motor gets hot, its going to allow water to pass through the sensor and .... not sure about the rest of the answer. Never had a black max.
1. I'm thinking the tilt sensor goes into a plastic cover on the side of the clamp unit. Like this but yours seems not the same as mine.
If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.
