Yes our dealership purchased the OMC F3 engines and parts and labor was very reasonable.
Of course we paid for our racing stuff 2US70 and sometimes recovered most of it from sponsorship.
In the F3 class it was possible to do so but no way in the Mercury 2 liter class.
We spent a ton of money to try to keep the Merc 2 liter engine alive 1991 but with out success.Last edited by lars strom; 12-05-2017 at 11:50 AM.

F3 looks like it would have been the class an old SE driver like me would have liked very much.

The W-150 class (cats) with EPA approved production engines like the Evinrude E-TEC 150 H.O. runs close to 80 MPH. Driver and co-pilot and fuel for around one hour.
(the engines must be stock, no powerhead modifications but you can have a nosecone with low water pick up.
Thanks for asking.

The V-150 class is same engines but v-bottoms only and some transom height limitations.
They use the letter Z and here is a Z-118 and Z-122.

It’s Offshore Racing and you need a navigator to find the shortest way to the finish line.

12-06-2017, 12:56 PM #1408I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.
