    Three Rivers Regatta 1983.
One of my best F1-V8 races in the USA. Close to get the pole position.
500,000 spectators made it even more fun to race there.

We park in the parking garage next to Hyatt Regency Miami 400 SE 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33131.
There is a free shuttle boat from to hotel straight to Miami Marine Stadium.
Don't take your car out to Miami Marine Stadium..no parking only prepaid.

We are thinking about going to the boat show. we haven't been to the Stadium since the last time we raced there in 1976. In my bicycle racing years I would train on the causeway bridge and ride by the Stadium. It was sad to see it covered in graffiti.

Spoke too soon. Over $100 for a visit to the Stadium isn't worth it.

This is interesting. Dillard’s Moore hull with my Swedish friend Pierre Lundin at the wheel in 2016. This is a boat built to UIM specifications cockpit safety and crash boxes. Much safer than today's APBA/Champ Boat rules

Racing in Leon, Spain early 1982

Our trip to Leon, Spain for the first F1-V8 and F-3 race in 1982 is a memory for life.
Its going to take me a few posts to tell the full story.
My brother Lennart and I got the Mazda purpose built for F3 racing pick up ready in Sweden with spare powerheads and gear cases. The Methanol tanks on the bed was filled up.
The #1 red Burgess/AKAI/Evinrude I used 1981 was going to be replaced for the Bristol race 1982.
I just got the pictures from Lennart and are not sure what I am doing in the first picture.
Maybe a fuel tank for the pick up at the bed also.
I also include a note from Anna O'Brien

One of many reasons for this Mazda "boat race pickup" was in Europe you can only drive 55MPH with a trailer behind a car.
This set up was much better no speed limit in Germany so we always drove WOT..The top speed fully loaded with the F3 boat was 90/95 MPH or more down hill..You got to pay attention in the Autobahn turns/curves.
This could cut down a trip from Stockholm to Italy with one day.

I have a friend w/a shirt that says: "Im the friend w/the boat"
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.
