You can see the propeller marks in the cockpit..and I believe the cockpit was a lifesaver today..

Randy Scism blow an engine and slowed down to enter the pit and got run over..
The white boat #18 had no place to go..
This is what I was told by people watching

#17 Luigi Valdano was an Italian gentleman and a close racing friend. Always a smile on his face. We raced together many years.
Sadly we lost Luigi in a F1-V8 race in Holland 1984. A safety cell could probably have saved his life but they where not available 1984. This sad accident was the start of thinking safety in tunnel boat racing.
1985 F1-V8 boats was available with safety cells from Chris Hodges and Cees Van Der Velden.

Today I want to thank every Veteran for serving our great country.

I came to the USA in the late seventies (first time) but did the basic military training in Sweden before I left. Back then it was mandatory for young Swedish men to do basic military training for a minimum of 6 month.

Roger Jenkins new F1-V8 Burgess 1984.
The Evinrude V8 3.5 liter 2 stroke, looper, carb model with 12 inch mid section was also updated with a new better exhaust manifold, new stronger connecting rod screws and a more aerodynamic engine cowling.
