This was a crossflow engine I mentioned some time ago that when Cees got his first crossflow engine he disliked how top heavy it was so he had 2 inches cut out of the centre section and a new shorter driveshaft made.So his crossflow engine always seamed to sit lower on his boat.

Yes your are so right STEVERINO The first years of the OMC V-6 2 liter cross-flow powerheads installed on the V-4 mid sections was top heavy.
The engine cowling Cees is using on the #12 boat in Paris 6 Hours race 1975 was the design of the first 1976 production 200 HP V-6 engine. (Picture below) I think Cees is using the mid section from Cardiff here with a 2 liter cross-flow powerhead.
The second picture is yours from Bristol 1975 and you can see how top heavy the 2 liter Johnson Stinger GP V-6 is. (#3 boat)

Sanders and Posey Cougar outfit in the 1975 Paris 6hr race had the same cowl as fitted to Cees outfit.This is the same Cougar outfit that was driven by Didier Jeausome for the 1976 Paris 6hr race powered by a 2.0litre Evinrude Looper engine.

Got any more info on it? I remember Bob Hewes boats well. My dad was in there all the time, and I usually rode with him back in the 70's. IIRC, there was a machine shop next door where dad also had his engine work done for his cars and trucks.

Talked to my dad today...I guess that motor might have been owned by Joe Colt...if so, that was my dad's old motor. He sold it to Joe in the mid 70's.
