    Not to bad..same 3.5 liter power-head we used for F1-V8 racing @Bob V

    A brand new Merc 450R - V8 with today's technology burns 50 up to 55 gallon per hour WOT..no way my F1-V8 could do that.

    450HP 4-stroke should burn around 35 gal/hr. not 55

    If that's true, then it produces a lot more than 450HP.

    Well sure, Merc always understickers their motors, that's how they do it. Best is to call it a +450, or just use the displacement including the blower displacement as the sticker .

    This is the back up boat being rigged for the New Orleans to St. Louis event/record.
    3 X Evinrude V6 235. Remember this was 1982..3 years before the production V8 came our.

    I can’t say for sure but I believe they were production V-8 gear cases. I know they brought a lot of spares. And changed them out at fuel stops along the way.
