I am somewhat prejudiced but in my opinion SE class was the best. Here in APBA SE provided the average driver the best opportunities for development as well as great competitive racing. From what I have seen on these pages it would appear that the same was true in UIM.

When the Merc music stopped in 1976, Hering and Molinari found themselves outside of the circle (Seebold, Bentz and Fountain). I'm sure $$$$ had a lot to do with it.

SE and SJ classes were stable and had large numbers of racers. The Mod, formula and unlimited classes tended to be foster homes for worn out hand-me-down junk from factory and high dollar people. SST100 and SST120/140 classes were the last gestures by OMC and Merc at so-called stock classes. SE hung on thru out all of those dynamics.

Also my childhood dream came true and I made my first visit to the legendary Velden Racing workshop in Boxtel Holland in winter of 2000... I am so proud and happy that I got the opportunity to learn so much from one of the best Mr Cees Van Der Velden. RIP

    The Jib room

The name of Nick restaurant in marsh harbor, Abaco.Jib Room it was famous for its Friday night Steakouts surf and turf served. You couldn’t get a table in the place. People came from all over Abaco every Friday night. Nick was a great restaurant tour and host and heavy duty friends all over the Bahamas, everybody and anybody knew Nick. Last I heard he had moved down to cat island around the orange creek area on the north end to set up a slower style of life with a bed-and-breakfast type of operation. Andy Wiggers was a great friend of nicks from boat racing built him a couple of sightseeing boats for his restaurant operation. Spent several weekends there back in the 80s stayed at the lofty fig inn . Still have a few friends over there and Cherokee sound, and Sandy Point Manowar key and elbow cay best everyone Amberjack good luck, Nick wherever you are rumor had it that Nick’s family or someone in it invented the Velcro zipper and money was not a problem for anyone Nick always had plenty and spent freely, but I don’t know if this is true

I know the Flying Farmer from racing the UIM SE class in Europe in the mid seventies. Nick always smiled even when the Swede beat him in the races..
Remember Nick use to have an office in Boca Raton, Florida and then we did see him in the Bahamas for the tunnel boat race he organize a few time.
I do not know much more about him.
    Great friend and racer.
