    Team Nordica's Molinari/Evinrude F1 V8 boats at London GP 1985.

#19 is Kicco Vidoli and #35 is normally Barry Woods, but it does not look like Barry if you look close. I was also there racing my #8 Burgess but dont remember if Barry was there or not.
    Thanks Fast on Water.

I don't think Barry ever ran a V8 set up in Europe?

    Another fact..

Back in 1976 when I raced Amsterdam 3 Hours in to OE/F3 class I did see James Beard nose dive just in front of me and his funny looking yellow Gordon's Gin Cougar-boat came to a million pieces..

More important was the overall winner..
Alf Bullen in his #6 UIM OZ class Burgess powered by the new 2.4 liter Johnson V6 RS.
No one could keep up with Alf in the rough water race.

My brand new Johnson RS 3 cylinder did not make it to the end..

Barry was signed up by Renato and Nordica for the 1985 F1-V8 World series and here you can see Barry at the first race in Munchen 1985.
A great start for the new F1-V8 pro-motor named Pro One.

    Rusty Rae

This is Renato Molinari in a hull of his design sponsored by Louie’s on the Lake with a pair of OMC V-8s.
They added a “wing” to the boat to need the minimum length requirement of 25 feet. However, the boat was difficult to see and was nearly involved in a collision several times. And, because the unlimited hydro's tear up the water, later on heats, the ride was not pretty. Molinari did finish third in the final, after being docked a penalty lap.

Barry Woods in Stockholm GP 1985 driving for Renato's Nordica Team
There was a major incident for Barry in the Stockholm race with his new #35 Molinari/Evinrude F1-V8 with the 6 inch mid section..

Found another one. This one is the 1987 Mod-VP Final in St. Louis. This is the race with Al Stoker when he stalls at the dock and then nearly wins the race coming in 2nd with little or no praise from the sycophant Merc commentators.

Stoker took 1st in Mod VP one year in St. Louis. When he stopped at the dock to collect the checkered flag for his victory lap,his Evinrude wouldn't light up again, so he ran up and down the dock with his flag. The crowd loved it and I know this because I was there. Beach starts and hot re-starts were not reliable with his Evinrude, but once the thing was runnin he took the Mercs in the pack down one by one.

Love the videos the history and especially the context of him running up and down the dock with the flag it doesn’t get much better than that best wishes amberjack
