The girls came to OMC because we had big jugs. Not like those skinny little pistons in the black Towers of power.

I had good luck with OMC for a year and a half. Also was in Johnson dealership for about nine years. But never had anything like this happened to me.

    A David Burgess built catamaran.

    Windermere Jetty Museum

Today’s #CollectionObjectOfTheWeek is the only catamaran on display at the museum, Trimite.
Trimite is generously loaned to the museum from a private collection.

A catamaran is a boat with two hulls. They have been used for thousands of years by the indigenous peoples of Oceania and can often be seen today in use as car ferries.

Trimite was built in 1982 for speed and, only a year later, Rick Frost set a world record in it. He reached the incredible speed of 144.16mph (232kph), which was the fastest a boat had ever been in this class.

It is named after Trimite Paints, who were Frost’s main sponsor for several years. We are very grateful to Rick Frost for his generous loan of Trimite so that it can be admired on the museum’s Wall of Speed.

David Burgess built at least three more sister boats for the 1983 F1 season. Andy Bullen #16, Roger Jenkins #9 and me #8 raced them.

Burgess Howell or Lee craft? Obviously a V-8 and what a piece of equipment. I think something like that would’ve scared me to death. Just a localRazor gets to enjoy talking to you guys were really involved in the fabulous aspects of tunnel boat racing.
