I am blown away by Cathys memory!

We should all be way thankful for that!!!

BTW, does Jimbo not seem to have a larger than normal smile?
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

The Lake Havasu Race was always held on Thanksgiving Weekend.
In 1968, maybe 1969, Dieter and his friend, Franz, came to my Mothers house in Needles and had Thanksgiving Dinner with our Family. My Mom was a good Texas cook. It was a Great meal and friendship. Dieter and Franz both LOVED the American Holiday.

So with help from @willabee and Cathy McConnell we are now pretty sure Dieter Schulze won the single outboard class in the 1966 Lake Havasu race in one of his first tunnel boats.
    Thank you.

From the Lake Havasu City World Championships 1967 program…… so this was for the 1966 Race.

More from Lake Havasu City 1966. I guess this is really the start of outboard tunnel boat racing. Mr. Bill was correct when I asked him over 10 years ago.
Thanks Wilfried Weiland of Austria for this picture.

The boat racing world have lost one of the greatest.

Roger Jenkins was a good friend, a very tough racer and a lot of fun. From our SE class racing in Finland 1973 to many years of OE class racing with OMC & Volvo/Konig and finally F1-V8 racing.

Many fun memories from OMC Belgium when we prepared our boats for Rouen 24 hours and other European races.

Roger won the OE class World title a couple of times and than the big one **1982 Formula One World V8 Champ.**

There was no one friendlier in the pit than Rogers wife Denise.

My weekend stay in Wales years ago in Roger & Denise guestroom are memories for life.

Thanks Roger (to the right) for all the fun & crazy memories.

If there was an easy way to do so I am ready but dont have the right "book contacts"
Ghost Writing Companies are in the business of receiving your data, and formulating it into a manuscript. You approve the final manuscript revision before it goes to book publishing.

If your going to write a journal of OMC racing and your involvement in the racing scene, then you might be satisfied with the more economical service providers. See the video by the twins.

Now if you are going to write a historical novel of said racing scene, then I would suggest you seek the higher quality writers/service. Why is Rocky The Movie very popular, is because the writers wrote the sport of boxing into a novel. Rocky's life experiences and personal relationship challenges on the streets, preparing for the fight, and inside the ring. (A more complete adaptation of the human condition, then a racing journal). A compilation of media news clippings of boat racing into a book is a racing journal.

The racing journal will have limited appeal. Attracting only people who know the racing fraternity.
A racing historical novel will appeal to the racing fraternity (if true to the spirit of racing), and also the reading public who escape into the protagonist's life, faults, and accomplishments. The reading public want to identify with the protagonist and characters in the novel.

Lars your contribution into book form, will be highly anticipated by many. Do yourself proud.

    Thanks @Lake X Kid ,

Yes I know boat racing history is not a great seller. Many have tried without great result.
I my case I am thinking about mixing it up with growing up in Sweden..running my successful OMC dealership, leaving Sweden for the USA. Traveling to 48 states with different motor-homes over 25 years.
Of course boat racing all over the world, working for Kenny Brack and was part of his IRL Championship 1998 and Indy 500 win 1999.
Lots of good stuff in the pipeline.
My wife Carina did a daily dairy with pictures and info one year when we traveled the USA.
We have seen stuff very few Americans have seen..

    Boat Racing Novel

A Book written about (normal) Self within the pulse of racing will be - hard press to sell more than 100 copies to friends and contemporaries. The larger general book reading audience/buyers (and movie fans) gravitate to character relationships and entertaining stories. The avid novel reader will yawn, when reading too much about race technology and listings of race results.

In the movies Talladega Nights & Rocky we are introduced to family members, and the separation and bonding that takes it course outside of the sport scene. Talladega Nights family scenes define who, the person, driver Will Ferrell (Ricky Bobby) is. We find Sylvester Stallion (Rocky) is awkward and not polished when asking his future wife out on their first date. And this romantic union causes friction between him and his best buddy.

In Rush, Tin Cup, & Ford vs Ferrari, we witness the rivalry of competitor drivers and corporate money. Romance drives Kevin Costner (Tin Cup) to better his pro-game, to win Rene Russo (and tournament) over his rival Don Johnson. James Hunt’s playboy lifestyle is, antithesis to Niki Lauda methodical seriousness and with contempt it drives him on, to compete against Hunt in the movie Rush.

A League of Their Own is, coincidental representative of Boat Racing. Boat racing, like girls baseball, does not draw large crowds to their respective events. Yet reluctant Tom Hanks (the intoxicated coach) and his girl’s team captivate viewers, with coach and players dialogue exchanges. The girls reveal star quality and competitive spirit to the local fans.

Novels give writers artistic license to larger than life characters and amazing storylines. Hollywood script writers are professionals and give us a synopsis of what is successful.
Future historical-novel writers of Boat Racing can learn wise techniques from the Hollywood pros.
