Ric McChesney is another man behind many OMC racing engines.
We meet Ric when I was an Evinrude Ambassador three years ago.
The picture with Ric and my wife Carina is from the Evinrude factory in Sturtevant, Wisconsin when the new G2 was introduced.

CFI under the lid
8 bit motorola eprom chip
The dip switches change the map for altitude
batch fire 4 +4
injectors same as Merc used in their engines right up to 260/280/300, 0280 150 036, same as lots of cars in those days
Same box for 3.5 and 3.0 just change the chip.
Runs Baro, tpi, iat and crank sensor in ring gear (no engine temp)
57psi system, I hear they ran the pumps on 24v in those days as they couldnt get big enough pumps, wasnt a lot of EFI around in early 80'sLast edited by powerabout; 06-22-2017 at 08:48 PM.

I don't remember powerabout, but there was a few different carburetors to use.

What we all forget sometimes, all of this was done on pencil and paper, wooden patterns and sand castings. No CAD or 3-D patterns or molds. Every part had to be drawn and dimensioned on paper. Then the drawing went to the pattern shop where shrinkage had to be figured in and then out to the casters before coming back in to be machined in the machine shop. A far cry from how its done today.
