Some color pictures, the first one is from Brodenbach, Germany. (the first ever F1-V8 race)
Its Fabio Porta holding #161 Carlo Maria Colombo of Italy.

In the picture below you can see #6 Andy Bullen in his Burgess/Evinrude V6 CCC inside Renato.
This is probably from Nottingham 1981



The next two below is probably from the Holland GP 1981. Not 100% sure.

One more picture from the first ever F1-V8 race..
You can really see how Renato is thinking how to figure out the best set up for the new Evinrude F1-V8.
If I remember right Renato tested both Carlo Maria Columbo's #161 boat and his own at practice in Brodenbach 1981.

#99 Clerici/Evinrude SS

I got this picture from a friend of mine in Denmark a few years ago.
Its from the 1973 Scandinavian SE Class championship race in Holbæk, Denmark.
I remember this race very well.. mostly because the heavy rainstorm all weekend.
The black dots in the picture is rain.. and the visor was fogging up bad..I was forced to remove it and finish the race without eye protection..
Its the pain I remember most..winning is not always easy..!!..

The Evinrude 65SS engine was only sold 1973. A special outboard made by OMC to win in the UIM SE class.
(Yes..it was legal)
Good enough to beat the Merc, Carniti, Konig and some Chrysler.
You can see the shift level on the mid section and the X-115 gear case.
Not sure if the Johnson was called SS or not.
I don't think OMC sold this engine in the USA.
Most of those engines was returned to OMC after the 1973 season.

The 1974 OMC UIM SE class engine was way better..10 to 15 MPH faster.

I'm confident that none of these ever made it to the USA. Merc never had a "return policy" either unless you were part of a hand-picked group of drivers/owners or part of the factory team.
