1985 OMC introduced the redesigned V8. Still 3.5 liter but a very short 6 inch mid section, fuel injection and new cowlings.
Cees van der Velden is working on the new beast..!!
Still most of the F1-V8 races was run in Europe.

there was at least 3 different exhaust systems
the 3.5 with EFi must have been a beast, I believe some where built with heavy rods so could run over 10k before the rule changed to 3.0ltr

Hi John you are right about the engine blocks being painted orange I was told the first 2.0V6 crossflow engines that you mentioned never ran over 4500 rpm with the welded cranks so I think that they ran pretty good in that Paris 6hr race if that's true.Its a grate pity that Ziggy is now gone he could answer all these questions that are now being asked.

1985 the first year of the 6 inch mid section some broke because of bad materiel..OMC made new ones and the problem was gone.

Jim Nerstrom was very good and extremely smart.
Yes, many good OMC people got burned when the top
management did all the stupid mistakes ending up in the worst
"belly up" in the marine history.
I know Jim enjoy airplanes and I still have some connections with him.
