    OK @STEVERINO ,

I think his name was Sean in the picture and he rebuilt lots of gear cases at OMC Racing in Brugge.. He had great days and sometimes not so great days.

His name was yan in belgium pronanced jan he used to test race boats on the canal at Brugge and in 1971 he blew a friend of mine small Shakespeare cat over thats where he got his limp from.My friend was 190 lbs and that was before power trim he used to try and put some ballast in the front of the boat but not enough on that occasion.I drove the same boat one week later in practise for a race and had to back off down the straight with the seat as far forward as it would go.Tucker stopped him testing boats before he killed himself. He claimed to be an expert on brothels. His sidekick at Brugge was Jackie also from Belgium they some times had a ginger haired guy in called Erick.

Pinion height must he key unless the ball gear on the propshaft is locked when you tighten the fwd shaft nut then you can hold the shaft and check each backlash with the timing gears removed?

Overall OMC gear-cases was in my opinion extremely good..and the CCC & V8 racing gear cases very sexy..!!

Pretty sexy picture of the Evinrude-Johnson F1-V8 racing gear case above.
I ran Johnson V4 stingers for 5 years 1970 to 1975 never had a gearcase issue. In 1976 I had a Johnson V6 2.0litre crossflow the first big event was the Bristol Grand prix I was lucky and got a good start I led the race for the first lap then the gearcase went.In 1977 when the new Johnson RS 2.5 crossflow engine came out I had two gearcase failures in that season. And in 1978 I had at least one gearcase failure may be two I had three teammates who ran two years with the same engines and never had a failure it went through my mind was somebody sabotaging my gearcases I asked the guy that managed the operation he said after they checked the units out they were all placed on a wall in the stores and not issued until the day before the races. He even removed the powerhead and gearcase to check if the centre section was out of line. But all the Paris 6 hr races I went in the motors were all shipped in from the states and new top to bottom I never had a failure at all.I am sure in 1979 they brought out a modified gearcase.

Pretty sure that is what was known as a Seebold-Lowry hull. Early Seebold about 1975/76 while Bill & Mercury were still using Molinaris.

Thanks, yes you are correct..I got this from Ron Hill....

"Barry says he rigged this Seebold in Seebold's garage...Then, went out an broke the record...Garbrecht, decide, he'd better OWN Seebold, so, he bought him...and ended Evinrudes on Seebold Boats...!!"

I think the first photo of this boat was taken at Lake Washington Seattle WA at the one and only Seafair 225 race (winner was Hering). By the cowling height I think the hull was intended for Merc TII power. This hull continued to be raced locally in the Pacific Northwest for several years and then disappeared.
