Can anyone who was there confirm all these V6 race engines shared the 4 1/8" bore spacing of the production crossflow V4/V6? I think I know that is a fact for the race V8 but have wondered about all the others. Would make sense to use some of the production tooling for machining.

F1 v8 shares dimensions with production looper although sand cast block thats all different everywhere you look.
I think the 727 looper was xflow dimensions as the one jake has shows it used v6 xflow water jacket covers on the heads.
Makes sense as lots of dies could have been used.
So in other words the v4 xflow dictated the dimensions on all of them till the f1v8 came out and that dictated dimensions for the next 25 years of 90 degree loopers

So how much horsepower do we think the 2.0ltr v6 xflow was?
    What did it beat?
How much power was the 2.0 and 3.0 loopers?
Where they the same block size?

I told this story last year Andy Bullen ran the 3.0 litre V8 engines he told me they did run these engines at up to 15000 rpm do you know of any Merc engines or any 2 stroke large engines that ran anywhere near that rpm?.

    I seriously doubt a 3.0 would get to 15,000
Only ever heard like 11,500 just like a Merc once they had the large rods in them.
But hey who said omc ignition cant deliver the goods
Do a calc from a nascar v8 at 9000 thats the limit for piston speed and its the same for f1 cars as well but i dont know the rod length of the omcf1

Will ring Andy Bullen tonight he did all the prop testing for Second Effort he tested as many as 30 props with i think the name was Les Cahoon he said they would pick around 3 or 4 props that were outstanding this would be over a couple of days and his reward was one of these props to use himself.Andys dad Alf Bullen had a house on lake Hamilton near Second Effort so they could use andys outfit to test these props they would put one of their own powerheads on and have him test over 2 days so i will check this 15000 rpm but i would suggest he was the best person to know.

Champion was always a big supporter of the V8 series.

The first year 1981 the OMC 3.5 liter V8 was using carburetors and a flat exhaust manifold. This powerhead was used 1981/82 and 1983. See pictures.
1984 the powerhead was updated with a new more streamlined exhaust manifold and a redesigned cowling (more round in the rear) Still 12 inch mid section.
    Looking for pictures. Coming later.

Well..GG and Second Effort tested lots of different stuff. OMC told us all the powerheads was the same when they left the factory.

Here is the newer type of exhaust manifold. Came on the 1984 model. Dont have a -84 picture but this is Bertil Wiks engine 1985. Same manifold.
