Until safety cells were mandated for the SST 45 class, I never could understand why 45SS hydros didn't run in SST 45 races (closed course / clock start). Was it because of hull length / weight? Or was it because the stock outboarders would have to pay extra fees and mailings for mixing 2 catagories together? Or, to really stir the pot, why didn't the SST 45 drivers migrate to 45SS to keep using their hulls without safety cells? To keep stirring the pot and tipping it over, why didn't somebody in 45SS try to run in D Stock? When I proposed the SST45 it started out for hydro use, but the Stock Outboard commission said it was too fast & if I wanted to go fast to continue running the OPC & pro stuff. Three years later the motor was approved but on tunnels

Too fast for the current D Stock owners? (LOL) I would like to have seen a good run off between a D Stock and 45SS hydro......…..
