In the 1960s and earlier, Goodyear Tire stores sold their own brand of products including outboard motors made by the Gale division of Outboard Marine Corp. The rebadged Gale motors were not always the exact same motor as Johnson and Evinrude but used many of their older parts and components.
For example, the above 25hp was built up with the older 25,30, and 35 hp parts where in the latter 1950s and early 1960s, J & E did not offer a 25 hp model.

Here is the full story..if you don’t want the read the full Powerboat story I can make it pretty short.
Mercury lost big time using the T-4 and the Wizard..(with twin Merc V6 powerheads)
Ben Robertson won in his #57 Burgess/Johnson V8. Barry Woods second in his #35 Molinari/Evinrude V8
After the race one of the OMC’s corporate executives couldn’t help but mutter under his breath after watching
    the T-4’s self-destruct:
“They (Mercury) have been suing us all summer” he said in hushed tones, ” do you think we could bring a case against them for fraud?”

There is many posts on page #356 about the Merc T-4 with fuel injection losing races to the OMC racing V8.

Lars, hope your cement slab & chickee hut will be o.k. at your place down here in Port Saint Lucie. We will be thinking of you as we are being blown away.

Well..We have been experienced many hurricanes starting with Andrews 1992.
Always left for Georgia or other states north of Florida.
2004 our place in Saint Lucie County got hit twice within two weeks. Lots of damage and we sold our small ranch.
Maybe a concrete pad, a Tikihut and a motorcoach is the smartest way of Florida living.
This time I guess Saint Lucie County is not going to be hit by Dorian, but sadly the Carolina's or Eastern Georgia more likely.

Statistically (1 per year or better for the entire east coast) does FEMA mandate that you buy flood insurance?

Well..you dont have to have any insurance if your house is payed in full in Florida.. (not correct..you must purchase Obamacare..)
Our resort lot only have liability insurance. Cant insure the Tikihut and the outdoor kitchen etc.

After a long career in the fire service in South Florida and most of my life dealing with hurricanes I have learned the following. First harden your home before a strike is imminent. Second make buttoning up as painless and quick as you can (I use accordion shutters). Third check your supplies and equipment at the beginning of the season and fix whatever is broken ( this year it was some shutter hardware and a generator battery). We keep flood insurance in force even though we are not in a flood zone. All of this allows us to react quickly and ride out most storms.

Watching the weather channels is good entertainment seeing all the last minute minions lined up at Home Depot or gas stations. I keep a constant 90 gallon back-up supply of fuel at home in my welded aluminum Petty tanks (with wheels) leftover from Havasu and Parker.
