Evinrude retail pricing from 1983 in Swedish krona and including the 25% VAT (sales tax)
A 70HP EL including remote control, propeller and rigging kit was $2,200 including 25% VAT.
Much less than in the USA.

Another friend Ante Malmgren worked really hard to get a OMC 2 liter looper 90 degree to go fast in Offshore 2 liter class but could not keep up with the Merc V6 2 liter.

Well yes and a very stupid design. This engine was raced twice. One time in the US and the last time in London 1984. (Same result) No the Wizard could not beat the OMC V8.
Barry Woods won and the Wizard took a swim. Yes..I did see it happen.

look at the size of v6's now and you realise Merc should have persisted with the t3, look where they are now with stroker 300xs
hot OMC 3.3 loopers are all more than F1 engines in those days
Dave bush built a 450 hp engine for a fishing boat that runs pump gas

Well UIM F1 racing today is spec. racing. You must use a Merc V6 and the exhaust/porting can only be done according to the F1 rules.
On top of that Mercury Racing don't make/sell anymore complete F1 race engines.Last edited by lars strom; 07-19-2017 at 08:56 AM.
