My dads old SE boat built by Bunky Bowerman was sold to Paul Heathman and he set the Kilo record somewhere around 85 mph Paul said it over heated at the end of the course on the last pass to back it up as he was running the motor so high with no LWP allowed. Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures of this one. SE was a great class back then.

Heathman was another driver better suited to a seat in the "Race of Champions".

Another fact is.. OMC did run the very successful F1-V8 series for nine years.

Started 1981 and ended after the 1989 season.
Millions of spectators around the world and sometimes up to 500,000 people watching from the shore.
Many major sponsors and here is a list of some..
Cool, Aspen, Carlsberg, JPS, Benson & Hedges, Martini, Castrol, Nordica, Nashua, Denim, Champion, Trimite, Peter Stuyvesant, Gordon’s Gin, Tecnocar, Beneteau, Dole, ITC, Lasse Strom Marin, Naiu, Texaco, ToTip, Stefanel, Arla Milk and many more.
The eighties was by far the most interesting time in tunnel boat racing.

What would those boats run flat out on a long straight Lars?

Well in 1984 Rick Frost drove 144 MPH in Windermere with the older style Burgess and a Johnson V8 carb model with 12 inch mid section.

In 1985 came the more powerful fuel injected V8 with 6 inch mid section. In a combination with better boats more than 150 MPH but under 160 MPH.

Ben Robertsons 141 MPH average on one lap is pretty brutal..(1986)
