Probably the roughest race i drove in Bob Hering in the no 3 molinari submarined about 1 hr into the race lying in 3rd place and his outfit was a 18ft marathon boat the no 4 boat Steve Pinsons outfit knocked the bottom through after 50 minutes. All the omc outfits had bent prop shafts and not many spare gearcases the Mercury outfits had as many as 4 gearcase swops over 2 days of racing the fastest boats spent that much time out of the water a ON 2.0 Mercury outfit driven by Peter Inwood nearly won the race for the last 30 mins of this race he had no prop blades left and the rescue boats were as fast as he was but Tom Percival was give 1st place.

    More Nottinghan, UK 1981

Renato in his #165 UIM OZ class Molinari..This is one of his first Evinrude F1-V8 boats from 1981.
Italmarine was the Italian Evinrude distributor. OMC did not take over the distributorship in Italy & Spain as they did for the rest of Europe 1977.
Filtri Tecnocar is a Italian maker of filters for gas & diesel engines.

More Renato from the first F1-V8 season. (1981)

Some color pictures, the first one is from Brodenbach, Germany. (the first ever F1-V8 race)
Its Fabio Porta holding #161 Carlomaria Colombo of Italy.
Renato's boat in the back ground.

In the picture below you can see #6 Andy Bullen in his Burgess/Evinrude V6 CCC inside Renato.
This is probably from Nottingham 1981

The next two below is probably from the Holland GP 1981. Not 100% sure.

In my opinion JPS is probably the most famous motorsport sponsor.

Bob Spalding & Tom Percival Velden Racing/JPS/Johnson V8

Benson & Hedges was another great sponsor for the OMC F1-V8 Series 1984/85.

The Gold Racing was run by Cees Van Der Velden, Holland

A three F1-V8 boat team and the drivers was #1 Velden, #2 Arthur Mostert & #3 Francois Salabert.
    Much more coming soon..!!

Benson & Hedges was already 1983 in the OMC F1-V8 series.

I am trying hard to get everything as correct as possible. The way I remember it.
There was two boats already 1983 with Benson & Hedges as their sponsor.

#12 Francois Salabert, France in a Johnson V8. (Pretty sure it was a Molinari boat at that time)
    #17 Luigi Valdano, Italy Molinari/Evinrude V8
The first picture show the two boats next to my #8 Aspen in Stockholm GP 1983

    #12 Francois Salabert, France in a Johnson V8. Yes..its a Molinari.
This is from Como GP 1983 above.

The last race of the 1983 F1-V8 Series was Milan, Italy and you can see the two Benson & Hedges boats in the line up.
This was also the race when I finally got my first heat victory..!!

Benson & Hedges was already 1983 in the OMC F1-V8 series.

One more thing about the Benson & Hedges/Gold Racing 1983.

Most of the European F1-V8 races was sponsored by Benson & Hedges/Gold Racing 1983
Not the Stockholm GP because Swedish Tobacco rules, but Champion Spark Plugs was the race sponsor for my home race 1983/84 & 85

The second picture above is from Como May 14/15 1983

    The 1984 B & H /Gold Racing ...

I am not sure how Cees Van Der Velden did it..but he took over the Benson & Hedges/Gold racing sponsorship 1984.
He started a three boat team and Luigi Valdano, Italy was dropped as a team member/driver and replaced by Arthur Mostert
Lots of promotion money was spent and a very impressive F1-V8 race team.
Cees was in charge..the team owner, number one team driver..he also used his race # 1.
All boats was built by Velden Racing.
Cees was a very charming person and great with the media..(especially the female media)..

    More is coming soon..!!
