I spent many summers at MarineMax, Lake Of The Ozarks and have seen all the Optimax powerheads blown..
Here is a few of my pictures.

...2us70 didn't say lots of Ficht motors blew up, I don't think? The mechanicals of the Fichts weren't necessarily their problem, it was the injection design, as he was mentioning. And I could be wrong, but Bombardier can still sell you repair parts for them, if you need them. So no big deal. Hey, we all have photo's of blown up outboards, want to see some? Nah, never mind...lol

WE GOT LETTERS – Typically, you feel blessed if someone says, ”nice catalog cover.” In this case, however, we got dozens of letters. Gorgeous! Beautiful! Fantastic! WOW! Apparently, however, they weren’t referring to the outboard since they also asked: What’s her name? What’s her phone number? Where does she live? Oh well, it was a… ‘nice cover.’

Dude in the boat is thinking, it really sucks that her Johnson is bigger than mine!

I had a few friends at work that had Ficht motors. The injection required 2 batteries to work. A battery failure left you dead in the water. I have been fortunate that my 2001 Optimax is still running fine as of last Friday. I have had very few issues with this motor. So far I have been able to handle any glitches myself.[QUOTE=FUJIMO;3189721]
