Hi Rodger hope you are keeping well. I can tell you when these engines were new i had three out of a box engines over 3 yrs 2 carb and 1 injection and never had a problem with wet plugs and I never had any teammates with this problem.I would disagree with these engines being overcarburated we were told the dyno figures for the carb versus inj were very similar the only difference I could tell after driving a injected engine I felt they had some more midrange which helped pull a 60gal fuel load out of the corners in marathon races. You mentioned porting I can remember the 1st race I ever had with one of these engines it was the fastest on the day but never finished the race it went back to the OMC factory in Brugge they decide to pull it apart and work their magic on it and a the next few races I had with this engine my teammates left me for dead they had lost my engine around 20hp or more.Late on that season they fitted a new out of the box engine built by the farm boys and it went like a rocket and finished 2nd to Molinari in the Amsterdam 3hr race.It also lasted the longest doing around 24hrs running before I sold it and was the best RS engine I ran.

    STEVERINO..

Same here, my experience was the same..all the OMC race engine I got from OMC was best left untouched.

A few more pictures of Steverino's Johnson RS (Racing Special). I think this is from Bristol.

Check this out Lars Strom, its a two speed E-TEC, note the filler between the Gearbox and the trunk I saw the prototype at the SEMA Show a few years ago. Patrick Weismann who did this were also involved with drysumping the 6 drive , they are legendary engineers
    Thanks Conn Saloumidis.
