I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Well, the man in charge at BRP is Jose Boisjoli and so far he is not letting the the engineering go ahead with a higher HP Evinrude. (he has a few emails from me on his desk, but no answer yet)
I know of some experiment with higher HP outboards within BRP.
The best selling HP outboard is by far the 150 class and I think BRP could do great with the new 135 to 150.
The new 150 model is the only one with the RAVE system and that is a good thing for the future.
Dont give up yet..!!..

Should be the same price as a standard 300 HO since no extra material is used, and most large companies build fast product only for advertising reasons, Honda spends millions on F1 cars they don't sell, why? There is a small market, all they have to do is shorten a midsection and build a real lower unit, hell I would buy the lower unit for mine instead of having to retrofit A sportmaster.

Lars Strom
Freedom Boat Club (owned by Mercury now) don't have any boats with Evinrude, so yesterday I was running a Suzuki. Did pretty good "wide open trimmed out".

Jack Aylsworth
Rotary Racing Engine Press Conference. Jensen Beach, Florida. May 1, 1973
Ralph Evinrude (left), Chairman of the Board, S. F. Briggs (center), founder of OMC and Bill Scott (right) President of OMC at a press conference announcing the 4 rotor rotary racing outboard. S. F. is holding one of the water cooled trocoids. Because of the water cooling each rotor was able to develop about double the horsepower of its air cooled snowmobile version putting this engine close to 400 h.p.
After being beaten badly a couple of times by this engine Mercury refused to participate.
The Wankel Rotary Engine
The Wankel engine is a 4-stroke engine, because the combustion processes in four independent strokes. Its main components are: •Rotor with seals (equivalent to the piston and rings of a piston engine)
•Eccentric shaft (equivalent to the crankshaft)
•Housing, also called trochoid due to its oval-like epitrochiod shape
•side plates, closing the sides of the housing
The rotor has a triangular shape, and the edges of the rotor are in permanent contact with the trochoid through the apex seals. This creates three separate combustion chambers along the flanges of the rotor and allows three 4-stroke processes to run simultaneously. The rotor only rotates at 1/3 of the speed of the eccentric shaft, so with every rotation of the shaft a different combustion chamber passes the spark plug.
Since the rotor only rotates at 1/3 of the eccentric shaft’s speed, the working stroke is distributed over 270° rotation of the eccentric shaft. A 2-stroke reciprocating piston engine only has approx. 100° available for the same stroke. Therefore the load on the power transmission, as well as the vehicle the engine is used in, is lower despite higher nominal power.
The particular advantages of Wankel engines are the lack of vibration due to fully dynamically balanced rotating masses, the very compact design, the extreme performance with a very flat torque curve, as well as very low emissions."

Folding Light Twin Carrying Case
Can anyone provide the insight / development of the carrying case? It looks like it was OMC's first attempt at roto-molded plastic. The cases that are still around today are cracked and brittle. Molded ABS was not around in 1966 nor was PVC...………..I have one of the Evinrude folding twin 4hp with the newer style engine cowl and weedless gearcase.

Not fiberglass. Between a few of my friends we have a pretty good collection of folders in cases.
