When I worked in Engineering back in the latter '60s, some of the old timers talked about a multi V4-engine car for the Indianapolis 500. I cannot remember much about the conversations but the car never made it through the qualification.

Evinrude - Johnson outboards. Facts, history, racing and future.
The Evinrude FISHING SAUCER concept boat was another futuristic design by Brooks Stevens and made for the 1957 New York Boat Show. Outboards were located in the plastic domed modules on either side of the saucer. While the U.S. military in the 1950’s had experimented on flying saucer flying contraptions without any obvious practical success, this Evinrude outboard fishing boat, aptly named Flying Saucer Outboard, was the opposite. It did sail, albeit briefly on the Milwaukee River. It was built at a cost of $14,000, a princely sum at the time (adjusted for inflation it would be over 100 grand today), with the intention of encouraging boat builders to think outside box. The flying saucer-like watercraft was powered by two 18hp outboard motors and could ferry an entourage of up to eight persons. It was, without doubt, one the most radical designs ever.

Evinrude - Johnson outboards. Facts, history, racing and future.
JOHNSON GOLDEN JAVELIN - While Brooks Stevens’ styling expertise was focused primarily on Evinrude (plus Gale and all their chain store sub-brands) he also styled several notable Johnson outboards. Of all the Johnsons he styled, however, the JAVELIN series – particularly the 1957 Golden Javelin - is perhaps the best example of his detailed application of trim and stylistic attention to design. The 35 hp Javelin pictured here is the 2-cylinder, 40.5 cu. in., “Big Twin” equivalent of the 1957 Evinrude Lark. The Golden javelin and Lark are considered by many collectors to be two of the most beautiful outboards ever produced.

Jack Aylsworth the race car was an idea developed between Brooks and some of the guys at Evinrude. It was going to race in SCCA Sports D class and use one of our OMC Mod50 engines. Unfortunately, it never got past the concept stage. I have the original of the drawing you posted.

WOW..a bit on the bragging side but I got this from a friend of mine.
From Powerboat & Waterskiing Magazine 1978 when I was the very first Swede racing to OZ class for Team Molinari/Saffa in Paris 6 Hours..❤️❤️❤️

I started my exclusive Evinrude sales & service dealership 1975 after I finished back then mandatory 8 month basic military service.
The location was Tollare, outside Stockholm next to a very busy waterway.
Huzells was at this time the Swedish distributor for Evinrude and without all the help from Huzells I could not have done it. Huzells paid for a lot of stuff like advertising, floor planing for inventory, special tools etc. and much more,
Timing was perfect because 1976 was the best year ever for outboard sales in Sweden. Around 50,000 outboards was sold 1976 and Evinrude-Johnson was extremely strong in sales.
My business got a flying start and never slowed down.
Later, (spring 1980) I purchased Melins Motor a long time Evinrude dealership in Stockholm and moved everything to that location.
Here is the flyer for my new business 1975.
