Paris 6 Hours..In my opinion the best boat race ever..

I was part of this great race 11 times..first time was 1973, my last race was 1986 when my brother Lennart and I won the very popular F-3 class with a Burgess/Evinrude CC..
When you tell people about boat racing in Sweden, Italy, USA, England, South Africa etc.they maybe listening..but when you tell them you raced 6 hours on the river Seine..next to the Eiffel tower, in the center of Paris.. they always want to know more..
Click here for my first Paris race…!!

(My first race with the big boys)
Gene Thibodaux came from Texas to race one of Team Velden's boats.
You can see his name on the boat behind the #2 boat and in the program.
Next to Gene is Cees Van Der Velden and Arthur Mostert.
Lago di Como was very windy and rainy that weekend.

I have to tell You a story about this pic. Velden arrived in Como without sponsor. The president of MiLa Mr. Frigerio asked me if i were interested in sponsoring the team. We reached an agreement and all the 3 boat if the team were sponsored with our LARIO brand. We were lucky and Velden won the race in Como.

Roberto from Italy crashed out in Nottingham 1982.
His Molinari F1-V8 boat needed some work done.
    Roberto was not hurt...https://svera.se/blogg/?s=nottingham+1982

Lars, that driver's seat looks more like a heavy chair out my living room. We both know that in smaller classes like SE and MOD 50/OE every ounce we could save was important to us.

Well..Renato always used the very best stuff for his boats. My guess is Roberto asked Renato to install a more comfortable seat in his boat.
The early F1-V8 boats without safety cells was extremely light..If I remember right my new Burgess 1983 was about the same weight empty
    as my Evinrude V8 engine..!!

Sadly we lost Roberto Saviero in a testing accident back home at the Po river in Italy late 1984.
    R.I.P my friend.

    The picture is from 1983

To be part of the UIM F1 series you must be approved by UIM to be able to race.
The last year I had a UIM Super-Licence was 1991.
I love the Swedish license #1

    This is way cool.

I was a huge fan of Bill Muncey and I, and the sport, still miss him.

Never knew that’s race was his idea.

Front and center in the picture.
    What a bad ass!
