Paris Six Hours 1979… OMC..the overall winner.
Beats the Merc T-4 with the Johnson and Evinrude 3 liter V-6.
Another OMC victory over the Merc T4.
This was the largest factory battle of the year.
Three boats rigged with the big bore V6 -T4 from Team Mercury.
OMC used their 3 liter V6 looper fuel injection and the result couldent get any better.
Cees van der Velden/Tom Posey won in the #4 Velden/Johnson RS 3 liter.. leading 181 laps of the 185 he won with.
Second was Renato Molinari/Barry Woods in the #3 Molinari/Evinrude CCC 3 liter 184 laps.
No Merc T4 finished the race.
All the famous US and European drivers was competing in the OZ class..
How do I know this:
I was there racing the OE/F3 class and finished third with our Sjoberg/Evinrude CC

Back in the seventies and eighties the most popular UIM outboard circuit racing classes was:
OE over 700 cc to max 850 cc
OI over 1000 cc to max 1500 cc
ON over 1500 cc to max 2000 cc
OZ over 2000 cc no upper limit.
There was always a minimum cc in every class and a maximum cc except in the OZ class. Must be over 2000 cc was the only rule.
OMC never asked UIM to change the minimum cc in the OZ class. It was always over 2 liter and no maximum cc..!!
Just saying..
