Sanger Alley Cat 21 First Time setup

This boat look familiar to anyone? I was told it came from Florida.
I've been interested in an Alley Cat since I saw the white one on LI on the site a few years back.
    Very nice paint and interior.
Came with a 2.5 260, on a 280 20 inch mid. But its not assembled and one hole has a scratch/gouge from the burned piston. I have to figure out what to do with that motor...
My 300 super mag 20 in is going on the boat.
From other threads, I see prop shaft should be about same height as sponsons.
This motor has a SEI lower with low water and side water pickups. Should I seal off the side pickup holes? With setscrews as a trial?
I do have a bobs jack plate that I just bought new hoses and reservoir for.
The boat has a strange angle in the dash, steering wheel is kind of horizontal.
Seems solid, I cant see any balsa delamination but its mostly hidden by carpet.
I do see a lot of yellow (kevlar?) There are 2 side tanks under the floor. The fuel line setup might have contributed to the piston melt, no racor was in use. One injector could have gotten clogged.
    Advice, comments?

    Capital Police...well done.

Thanks for sharing Jon! I still have computer woes . Seems like they need to come out to have a look and gave me a 5 day window! Great service.

Wylielee- If you have any questions on my build just let me know and I'll be happy to give you background information. My email is wgibb@aol.com

    Good luck,
    Bill Gibbons

Beautiful Sanger Alley Cat. You're right: the hull is kevlar. Look up under the top deck and you'll see that the entire upper deck is carbon fiber. Sanger Jack was way ahead of his time. You should also find a piece of paper glassed in to the carbon fiber under the dash with the model and serial number.

I don't like the stock angle on the dash either. I did the same thing that Bill did on his rebuild and cut out the 45° dash and compass mount. I built a plug that brought the deck plane (~horizontal) and lower dash plane (~15° forward lean) together, forming a new 15° dash. The black area will provide a background for the gauges.

Sanger Alley Cat, I followed your build and Kornowski did a fabulous job on it. The gelcoat design/colors are gorgeous.
