    Can this be fixed?

Crack seems pretty deep, I've heard that it can be milled down and a new ring welded in but not sure with it being so deep. If it can any idea how much it will cost? Trying to decide if I should just get a new top half or fix this.
    Sorry for the sideways pictures

Take it the rest of the way apart . Use a air hack saw to make a few slits in the sleeve and gingerly remove it . Post a few pictures of what it looks like behind the liner ..

I recently had an FF block do the same thing and right now it is in Mr. James Perry's shop getting repaired. Give him a call. Very reputable gentleman.

    Fugi-san ,
I see you pulled your post saying it was scrap ...
And yes , my eyesight is not what it use to be . I do appreciate you expanding the pics to show that yes the register has a longitudinal crack ... But since it cost's nothing to take a look , I'd still like to see it with the sleeve removed ...

I know this is the ****book : rocks , my mechanic , 3000 rpm , bla - bla bla , steel sleeve motor that is easier to replace than fix .

However people that have hundreds of hours in block / cylinder head porting or have a 280 -300 NIC / valuable 300x block will seek to have it repaired . I have one of my TIG machines set up with quick change fittings and an assortment of Weld Tek http://tectorch.com/ flex head and slim line torch's that will fit into some pretty odd and previously unreachable places ...

    oh dear.
now that would be a challenge to get fixed.
But this would be the ideal block to use as real project for someone who thinks he is Da Man at fixing this type of thing.

trouble is what would it cost to be done v find another block ?

Not sure, I was quoted $5500 to get a full rebuild and fixing this block but I didn't know how bad this was at the time.
