    Unknown Outdrive!

From what I know this boat is a 21' Stallion and had a BBC in it. The prop is a "stiletto" and looks like a surface piercing of some sort. It has an actual prop shaft on the lower unit and looks nothing like any alpha or bravo I have ever seen. I'm building a motor for it and am curious what this drive can is and can handle. Any help is appreciated!

Sternpowr I reasearched them before i bought my current boat that has one on it.
I know of people which have put 1200 hp thru them with no problems.
    And many are running 600-900.
Of course a lot depends upon how well its taken care of.
And if there are any internal problems already.
    Rust on bearings pitting etc.

I have had 1 of these outdrive since 2002 on my 79 Eliminator mini daycruiser 454BBC 72c velvet drive. Current set up is with a 105 but I have a 107 I'm putting in it this winter. With a blown 468. Previous set up with 105 ran 80 mph but my drive is to low in the water prop shaft is 6" below bottom and I have the shortest drive they made so am changing X dimension this winter also. My OD guy says I should pick about 10 mph from that!!!

these drives are faster with higher X dimensions, the hydrodynamics on these lower units are really bad. Mine has been highly modified and does not look nothing like urs or a stock lower???

good gears are VERY hard to find these days. New factory gears are JUNK!!! All ready went threw a upper and lower set with no real big power!!! Old 1s were made by Richmond gear and are the best to get if u can find them. GOLD!!!!!!
    U probably have the good
if it haven't been rebuilt lately!!!! Make sure it always has oil in it!!!! And u should have it check out before u put some serious power in front of it. U don't want to hurt it!!!

i can set u up with the guy he's in OHIO I think. Very good dude!!!

do u know what gears are in it???

Are you asking me or the original poster.
If me im still shaking it down and fixing problems.
But have had it up to slightly over 80 with a big block chevy and a lot mpre left in it.

As far as the prop versus crank.I could measure it the next time I am over at the boat.
