Trim speed and jack plate speed
Just swapped out a factory mercury external trim pump for a Mercury racing trim pump. I saw no difference in speed. Yes, the battery is perfect. The only comparison i have is that my 1988 XP200 will go up and down 3 full times by the time my new mercury high performance trim pump goes from full down to full up once.
Next I just installed a brand new Bobs Extreme II jack plate and matching external pump, Not too impressed with the lift and drop speed. Once again, my old 1988 Land and Sea jack plate will go full up and full down by the time the Bobs goes from bottom to top.
Am I expecting too much for a high performance piece to outperform 29 year old stuff?
These are the two pumps I had high hopes for.If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.

That Mercury canister pump is t the fast one, the bobs should be fast though. My bobs pump is faster than my mercruser fast pump.
Maybe be issues with wire sizing or something? Weird voltage drop somewhere?

There are a bunch of different pressure regulators for the Merc pumps, as they use them in I/O's, O/B's, and tabs. Sorry, I don't know specifics on them all, but was told this by a factory Merc tech when searching for a pump for my Stainless Marine jack. I'm guessing if you dig deep enough, you can probably find the highest output unit and put the pressure regulator in your unit from one, unless they don't sell that stuff separate.
A problem is only a problem when viewed as a problem...

Remember you need volts not a lot of amps to make this work
so a extra small battery is all you need
In drag racing we use a switch on the foot throttle to activate the 24 volts , the switch goes to a adjustable delay ( computer, ha )
with another set of trim switches on the steering wheel that are 12 volt to make final adjustments
some have a 36 volt set up !
Low volts tend to kill ( burn up) electric motors, example, bad connections, they love high volts .
No matter what your working on always check your grounds , the most common problem in all electrical problems. We have invented the world; WE see
