Start him out in a 13 whaler. That's what every kid should have first plus you and your wife can ride along with him. Glad to see that you are a dad that will provide tools to create Independence for him. I can still remember the first time being out "by myself" and having no one to tell me what to do (now look what that created LOL...)

He drives the vector when we all go out..... looks like this eliminator could seat 2 or 3

That was my first real boat that I got when I was 15... Was an amazing first boat that I would recommend for any parent looking for a safe, well built boat for their kid...

The Whaler is a great idea, you will be a lot more comfortable fishing in it then the Eliminator. I say get both.

I agree the Whaler is a great start too, He can start learning with the Whaler.

Additionally helping you with the Eliminator project.
He will appreciate it that much more when its completed.

Plus he can brag to his friend he has 2 boats :-)

I remember when I was a kid all I dreamed of owning was a 13' Whaler. So many kids had those and I was so jealous. Everybody would race them. The fun of being young... But I also remember seeing a Fun Cat that somebody had docked near me with a 50 Merc on it, and I just lusted for that thing. It just looked like immense fun. I miss those days.

I had one of these with a 40 horse on it was a blessed great little boat taught me a lot about handling of a boat like that in a larger scale I also had a mini STV in a 10-foot Will a 40 horse so it was really fun that thing was amazing you get all the looks in a mini boat like this you have to pass out neck braces cuz everybody is checking it out I'd say get it so much fun and cheap on gas probably better than a high school education college education
