Sediment filters for Fuel Tanks?
My 1980 Wellcraft twin engine boat has a 108 gallon fuel tank. Thinking its aluminum. I cleaned it out, had tons of white floaty things in it. Filled it back up with fuel. Took it to a boat place for a tune up, they had to drain the tank, clean it and fill it up. Getting expensive. Took it out for its first spin last October and after 10 mins the first motor started fading away, then the other motor started fading away, literally made it to the landing by inches. Its not the carbs, they are brand new, its not the fuel pumps they are brand new, its not the V8 filters, they are brand new. But tiny junk is still getting through the fuel/water separator filters and clogging that tiny filter in the carbs till she cant get any more fuel.
So, is there some kind of large sediment filter that can be installed to pre filter the fuel before the fuel filter. I know the fuel filter doesn't really go down to far on the micron scale.
I'm not too excited to chainsaw my 8' long fuel tank out of the foam so I'm looking for an alternative for now.
Maybe spray liner? But I'd have to remove the tank right? If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.

No, the tank lines go directly to the large water separator/ fuel filters on the block. They are metal screw on filters and I haven't thought about cutting one open. Should I?. I'm 99% sure they are plastic filters above the fuel bowl. I think my old carbs has "stone" looking filters and these are the white plastic ones.
So you think maybe I should try an inline 10 micron filter after the fuel tank and before the fuel/water separator filter? Thats what I was thinking but i was also thinking of one the size of a refrigerator filter or pop can. I haven't touched the boat yet this spring but when trying to open up the 4bbls it just bogs down big time and can't keep up with the demand of fuel.If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.
