2004 Optimax 225 Eating Air Injectors

We have 2004 Optimax 225 with ~600 hours. Started it up one weekend and cylinder 1 wasn't firing. Turns out cylinder 1's air injector was dead. Replaced air injector and cylinder 1 fired right up, only to find that cylinder 3 was no longer firing. Turns out cylinder 3's coil pack was dead. Replaced the coil pack, took the boat out for a couple hours and everything ran great. Took it out the next weekend and cylinder 1 wasn't firing again - the new air injector was dead. Also heard a loud whirring noise coming from the air compressor (or near it).

Before we dump money into a new compressor and all the associated cleaning (injectors, fuel rails, etc.) - is there a definitive way to test whether this is a failing compressor clogging cylinder 1's injectors with debris or if there's an electrical problem that's toasting them? The compressor doesn't have any play or make noise when turning by hand with the belt off.

would start by removing the compressor and look inside the hose. Better yet take the compressor apart and inspect.

If that's the original compressor you got your moneys worth out of it. As said, check for crap in the hose, and I would plan on changing the compressor to a new updated unit. jm2cts

It's the original compressor. Would it be difficult to clean the fuel rails myself or should I have them sent out with the injectors to someone like Brucato or Flagship?

Also compressor aside, is there a way to rule out an electrical problem with cylinder 1?

I am not aware of a coil taking out an air injector problem. A spark test would determine if all coils are firing. As far as the rails, a good cleaning could be done yourself, but if the compressor has a problem it likely put crap in all the air hoses and rails/injectors. They air injectors should be checked. Best start with checking the hose out of the compressor 1st..And go from there. I would bet the compressor is weak or shot and making debris at 600 hrs. Did you ever do a air pressure check of the system?
