    Thermostat hose routing?

I cant remember where this thermostat hose goes to on this Mariner Mag 2... XR4... 2 piece adapter that has a hose barb on it. Does a hoserun from the left head down to the adapter? Where does the tell tail get to go tap into?

That elbow should point aft, then a short hose, a "T", one hose from the "T" up to the hose from the thermostats and the other back to the pisser. Don't know where the pisser goes on a bucket cowl, all mine are clams...

Does this motor have a fitting on top of the block for a hose ? Mine had a hose from the poppet to the top of the block with a T for the hose to tattle tail. Mike.

No wonder why your pic was confusing...

Just "T" that elbow into your thermostat hose and run the loose end out of the lower pan or skirt somewhere with the pisser restriction thingy in the end of it.

I would have post a pic but phitobucket is acting stupid.

Thermostat hoses should look like this weather you run stats or not.
Bottom right is where the poppet cover should overflow right out of the bottom of the cowl.
I never seen anyone put a barb in a 2 piece adapter. I don't know if that thing was suppose to inhale your leftover head water or if it was suppose to feed something. I guess you could fire it up and see if it pumps water into your shroud or sucks.
I'm only guessing here but if you said your poppet cover is totally blank with no hose coming off it. That barb in your 2 piece could be for blowing off excessive pressure in your block being you have a solid poppet cover like you said. Kind of like a relocated poppet overflow valve thing someone was experimenting with maybe to keep that 2.4 warm.

I'm sure you know your middle bleed of hose is not on, right?
If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.

Yes. New intake bleed fitting is ordered.
This motor was a Mariner Mag 2. With vertical reeds.if that makes a difference. I dont believi it was ever torn down untill i got a hold of it. But yes there is no place for a fitting on the poppet cover

I can't get photobucket to work. PM me a cell # and I'll text you a pic of what it's supposed to look like. You don't have the poppet line like the newer stuff.

That elbow runs aft into a white plastic "T". Up from the "T" is the hose from your thermostats. Straight aft is the hose going to the tattle tale. That runs into a fitting in the cowl support bracket. If you still have that, you can push the fitting out of the cowl bracket. Just poke that through the hole where the new cowl pisser goes and you should be good.

I love doner boats. You get stuff off of them that don't exist or you'd be paying a fortune to buy online.
