Opinions on older style trim pump for 2.5 merc...pic included
Got this pump along with a blown motor I bought for parts... wondering if it's worth keeping or should I get rid of it...everything works great, has new solenoids, new trim lines...no leaks etc...would be using it on a 2.5L carbed merc. Thanks.

What he said.
those old pumps don't die.....or at least the 2 I've had wouldn't.
they aren't fast but they last.

I've used 'em for years! They can be run on 24v to speed'em up and work extremely well if you change the Pump to a Mercruiser pump.
Motor, bracket, can, etc. will all interchange but you jst need the pump itself!

Motorcycle fork oil. Easy to find and you can get lighter weight than atf. Mike

Lighter the oil, quicker the Trim, less resistance?

Yep like nitro said. Very noticeable difference compared to 30weight. Mike.

Not just oil weight but check viscosity indexes at varying temps too.
One of the good things about aviation hydro fluid is it is designed not to have as much variation in viscosity index with temp changes as traditional "tractor" hydro fluid.
Less variation means more consistent trim timing
