What should the long low spots be filled with? Bondo, fiberglass resin, what works best for pounding the water and not wondering if your patch came off
If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.

Depends how deep the low spot is. Need XstreamViking to reply here get you a proper recipe/procedure.
Shallow areas less than say 1/8" no csm needed. The deeper areas I use bits (or sections/layers depending on how large an area) of csm and resin or Epoxy, whatever your using...in layers to fill deep pockets up to a level where I can use a thickened resin "as" bondo to fill small shallow voids or bubbled areas and give a sand-able surface to get smooth and flat. ... jme
Years ago, I used bondo out of not knowing there were better things to use. I don't use bondo for anything anymore... jmo
Really need an experienced guy replying here though. The above has worked flawlessly for me, but the fastest boat I ever had only ran mid upper 80's.James H. W2F a V-King... Want 2 Fly a V-King

You can use a cab-o-sil and gell cote mix if the areas are shallow. Over 1/8'' deep use some mat. Bondo is a no go due to it being mainly thickened with talc powder. It absorbs moisture and swells. Pre made fillers are available, formulated for marine use. They have no talc.

It will get done eventually. When you get it to ready to paint it goes fast from there. Patience is the key now. Do it right, and when you buy the paint and carefully apply it, it will all be worth it.

Went ahead with the bow light and cleat delete....
Non of us could get our fat ass up to the bow so some Scott brite as a backer and some mat. Today at lunch I'll grind it flat, pit some body filler on and we hope to have the topside in primer tonight.
