BRP get EPA kicking and maybe a fine if an emission compliant module gets hacked. Automotive industry has some copyright waiver at the moment.
but I was referring to post 4 where i think a BRP employee was involved?

I can see where an employee would get the hammer if he was moonlighting on this.. But, the aftermarket usually has ways around this kind of stuff, right? I mean, they aren't making money because they are duplicating the technology, they are changing settings inside the program.

BRP get fine if an emission compliant module gets hacked !!!!

err no this is incorrect, they cannot be in any sort of trouble if the module is HACKED.
The word HACKED tells you it is not something under the control of BRP and is frowned upon..

anyway if anyone wants to go racing the emissions dont come into it, racing unless in a green class the emissions dont count.
also dont count if used commercially, this is how you can still buy 2 strokes motors brand new that DO NOT MEET emissions regs.
if you state you will be using the motor solely for racing or solely for commercial use the old type 2 strokes are available.

We in the uk are not allowed to buy brand new old type 2 strokes due to emissions, unless of course we buy ex-demo or for racing or
    for commercial use.
this is just an example of how to buy, (there are several ways round the legal bit.)

Now that Evinrude is dead and buried and BRP's attention is long gone can we get to the bottom of this. I can buy a repo G2 from a local lender really right, but it has no warranty as the debtor overheated the crap out of it due stupidity. He located and swapped on a good used different HP long block trying to get it running but the dealer wouldn't program the EMM to match. The original EMM is now completely MIA after the repo. Powerhead appears to be never disassembled just needs an EMM programmed for X horsepower original powerhead was X+25, midsection and serial number are X+25. There are tons of EMMs sloshing around the used market at reasonable prices but the sellers never know or won't disclose what model they came off nor will anybody admit to being able to flash an EMM to match an engine. The entire situation is weird nobody even pretends to give a dang about programming on car and truck ecus but people act like the EPA will have the FBI at the door if somebody flashes me an EMM for 25 less horsepower. What gives??

The g1 emm is easy to change maps and HP. I have g2 diag but never tried changing maps just injectors etc. If it’s the big motor 200ho-300 porting is the difference I know on a 200ho g1 vs a 225ho/250hp is about .050 higher exhaust port. Worst case just March the port to the tune instead of marching the tune to the port. I have a few g2 powerheads I could get you port measurements if needed.

Maybe I wasn't clear. I do not need some esoteric custom tune. I don't want to disassemble and change the port timing on this powerhead. It is going on the Mastercraft Powerstar 200 named "Water Brake" (for the way it effortlessly absorbs power) that we keep at the family lake place. I just need to find somebody that I can send a good used 0587334 EMM to that is say flashed for a 300 and have them reflash it for a 225.

same issue, you need to add a map to a emm that is programmed not to allow it.

I can do it to g1 never tried g2. Your going to have to do a data transfer from a 225 emm to your emm then do a software update to your emm because the map will not match the model, hp or prefix etc.

actually a few tuners have gotten fined as of late along or forced to shut down. we've stuck a 225HO emm on a 200HO and it worked.... Sure did it run a bit rich yes but it ran well... although that was a G1.
