No love for the bolt on power trim that was available for these? Too hard to find?

Yes...expensive...hard to find...and aren't real reliable (in my eyes). I happened to have an extra clamp brkt and down to use and was pretty straight forward to install a newer style assy to this older motor and works like a charm.

Obviously Nitro you have better sources than I do. When I was looking into T&T for this motor there were none that I could find. After I did the mod of the newer style assy. I did find a guy that had one for $750 which was more than I would have been willing to spend for a T&T system that I had a less than stellar opinion of. I got that opinion from being an Evinrude dealer for many years....didn't see or work on a lot of them but weren't real reliable in my eyes. All in all I like the newer T&T that I can still get parts for and am not a purist trying to keep the engine completely original and I only have $60 invested in it because I got the whole swivel assy. for free.

Maybe you should.....There's one on Ebay right now for $450 and one for the 40/50 HP for $700 and I'm pretty sure you can't get parts for them any more. As easy as it was to retrofit the newer T&T I would never go to the old style...just my own personal preference.

Dan. The newer style omc t&t is easy to put on the 73-76 motors. I did it and detailed it in a thread on this forum. Same motor as yours. A 1973 135 v4

Yea Umassot I did it on this motor already with your help. Posted pics earlier in this thread. I think Nitro was just wondering why I didn't use one of the original T&T units and I explained my reasons. I love how the new trim works. I just finished painting the whole motor and have it mounted back on my Hustler. Will post more pics tonite.

I agree with you Dan, the external trim units for the mid seventies OMCs are going for more $$ than the later integral trim units because they are rare. Regardless of the cost, they are big and obtrusive...... try putting one on a narrow transom tunnel.

I bought a 2.5 merc with a blown powerhead and parted it out. I kept the trim and came out ahead.
I am in the process of shortening the merc swivel, which is the biggest issue thus far. Stay tuned.

ID:	402365A little update on my Johnrude 135. Last weekend I cleaned, sanded and primed the whole motor with urethane primer then painted it with Nason urethane auto paint. The auto paint store shot the rear handle from the cover to match the 1987-88 blue/silver color. In certain light/angles it does have the blue hue to it but does look alot like silver. All that's left is to figure out what decals I want ,clean and reinstall the cover seal. It's funny how much it looks like the old OMC Sea Drive. Thinking about just keeping it simple with a navy blue Evinrude decal on each side and a 135 and a V4 decal for the back. Can't seem to come up with many pictures of others repainting and decaling projects. I also last winter installed CCMS reeds and dropped the timing 2* getting ready for this spring.
