This post is about a V4 CROSSFLOW not a looper.
the fastest gears ratio was the 1.92 to 1.Suzuki (afaik) did not have anything to do with omc when the old v4 crossflows were made.
At that time Suzuki were in with Yamaha, as can be seen on the Yamaha 85hp 3 cylinder engines with Suzuki stamps all over the castings.
That was at the time omc were having disputes with Yamaha.

Not saying that a Suzuki box will not fit on the crossflow v4, but Suzuki did not make them for it. (afaik)

the gearcase bolt patterns are all the same on OMC crossflow and looper
who did you think made the 4 stroke Johnson powerheads and guess what they made some gearcases as well!!!

this was why I used a v-6 gear case on my v-4 if you are cutting the drive shaft down anyway just use the cross flow shift shaft cut it and you are done.

Change shift rod and they do bolt up. The 4 stroke Johnsons were Suzuki top to bottom they even used Suzuki props.

I put a V4 crossflow case on a 200 looper, so the reverse must fit too. All I changed was the shift rod.

Large diameter V4 case would be 12:27 (2.25:1)

Only if you put a 15 spline v6 shaft in a v4 case, v4 crossflow has 13 spline prop shaft

I have a v4 cross flow case with a v6 shaft and I have had it on a v4 cross flow, a v6 cross flow, v4 looper, and a v6 looper. The modifications to do this are very minimal.
