I know these motors are harder to come by and i wanted to know if it is a 200 or is it the 2.0 150hp. the vin on one side has been scratched off i believe is there any other spot someone might knw where it is the motor is a 1990 any help is much appricated

Looks Like a 1985 V-200

Mercury Shop Manual # 90-821303
If the cowl has the vented louvers, the guy was just after that for the motor. I believe the XR2 came with that cowl.

Remove the Cowl. Look right between the two heads center of the block TOP. There is a welch Plug (i.e. Small Freeze Plug. There is a Block Serial number stamped on the welch Plug..

Its not on the head. Its right in the center of the block between both heads directly on top right above the coils.
What is that serial number? If its the one you posted A129684. I have already posted what you have.Bud Conner "Heathen" "Defending Our Constitution"

horizontal or vertical front?

So If I were standing in Kansas, would the front be the side facing California or the side facing New York?
If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.
