    Thank you for the offer.

But for me, building the motor is the best part, I enjoy the most!!

Albeit I may PM you now and then for a slice of your I6 experience if OK? This is my first I6.

    Thank you Capt,

    James

I own the "salad tongs" but have put many together without them. Not that hard to do it without them if you are patient. I hang the whole rotating assembly from two straps above my bench and slowly lower it down into the block. Using a hard wooden dowel I make sure each ring finds its way in. I do use the compressors now, but I did several before i owned them just by hand. The 99's have more room to get fat hands in to work. The small 60 cubic inch motors and such are harder without the compressors.

I only have 3 of the tools and can drop the assembly in quite quickly.
As one tool frees up, move it to the next location

Yes and No...It's been all torn down save for the power head...It's on my work bench waiting.....for me to finish my V-King.
Rebuilt the carbs, distributor, and went through the LU...that needed some parts, but acquired them.
Bought an almost complete year correct NOS decals, looking for the two missing...there was 3 missing and I found one, so now 2 missing.

As much as I love the red XS decals, I'm going to keep it all 1975 correct...as best I can.

I believe the power head to be good, but I want to tear it apart to have a look see and replace all the gaskets and seals.

I even picked up a couple of salad tongs to install the pistons when that time comes...still looking for the ones I am missing.

Oh, and the stator wires rotted (ALL the wires, save for the plug wires rotted)...need one of those eventually. Although I did dig out part of the epoxy casting and made a repair, it aint pretty and doesn't go on because it just wouldn't be right. But it tests out OK.

Got rid of the Vector I had for it, don't have enough in me to do another restore...But...I do have a turn key bass rig with a sweet 2.0 150 I may just yank and put this on just for grins....but that's down the road.

I have been taking a lot of pictures as I go, so when I get serious about finishing this beauty, I'll make a new thread.

    I wish I could.

2019 and beginning of 2020 has been rough on me.
Diagnosed with 2 different kinds of cancers, with chemmo and surgery's....haven't worked on my V-King either.

The promax power head I did finish the assembly just before these shenanigans began.
It's ready to be set on the mid. I want to go through the LU before it goes on the boat, just because I can (or could) and want to take a look see.

The boats not ready for the motor anyway. All the structural glass and epoxy work is done in the boat. (Stringers, core. transom, etc....)

Just Need to re-attach (epoxy and glass) the deck to the hull. Flip and paint, flip back and paint, then rig.

I need to get better before any of this gets finished.....
    I'll be 65 this year, feel like I'm 80....LOL

Kinda know how you feel, had asophageal cancer, had the asophagus removed and stomach made into a tube, 16 days in cardiac intensive care, pnuemomia, mersa it was a fun couple weeks. Six years ago and finally getting to where I want to get up in the morning and work in the garage or yard. Funny story, now, 3rd day after operation, the Doctors took me to the basement, (in my head) and were trying to stuff Crispy Cream donuts in my feeding tube, told wife to call 911 and get me out of there. Got strapped to the bed and wife was told to go home. I swear that right hand strap was coming loose, morphine's a bitch. Keep your head up, it does get better, good luck.
