Not too hard to make out of some flat stock and a steering tube from an alpha transom assembly. That looks like fun btw

I have one that was a bit rusted, been sandblasted and black powder coated. You might talk me out of it for the right price... PM me an offer

I made this one if you pinch in you can see it. It was easier than finding a Merc one and allows tensioning cables against each other to remove play. 7/8-14 thread for steering cable if remembering right.
I got everything I needed from McMaster Carr tubes, nuts and taps, except the two brackets, I had those made from flat stock. I also made the end piece connecting the two cables where steering arm attaches but a stock Merc one would have been fine, those are easy to find. You make brackets with two holes same distance apart as the end piece cable centerlines. I ran my cables from same side but would work either way.Current rides

I installed mine last night. I don't understand how it's supposed to tilt unless you leave the motor bracket tilt tube nuts a little loose. I feel like it needs a bearing or at least a vinyl washer on each side of the add on second steering tube bracket so that the second steering tube can move with the tilt.
Those who have had this setup. What did you do about that just leave the nuts a little loose?
I don't feel like that's the right solution. Here is a video of min with the nuts tight. You can see it starts to bind.

The guy I bought my secondary steering tube bracket tells me to just snug the primary steering tube nuts. Still seems like it puts a lot of stress on the arm that goes from the end of the two cables to the tiller. I'm thinking new lock nuts so the vinyl is good and some thin plastic bushings in between for the bracket to ride on.
