I went on a search and destroy mission and located a NOS unit. I tracked it down through an old eBay ad. The seller had one last one he was willing to part with. It's on the way here. Thanks very much for your help. I'll post some pictures once I pick up the XS and mock up the steering.

Good question....had me scratchin my head for a minute.
I had an old seastar system on my CC open fish about 20 years ago.
The bracket that attached the cylinder to the steering arm on the motor was in a sliding mount. As the motor turned from stop to stop, the steering arm mounting bolt moves in an ark.
That bolt that went from the steering arm to the cylinder mounting bracket had a slide set up that allowed the steering bolt to slide forward and back...allowing for the ark. That rectangle in the center of the bracket is where the bolt slides forward and back during turns.
The new style cylinder twists up and down allowing for the ark. 4 minutes into the video you can see this rotating or twisting in action...

Yep. Once that was pointed out to me it all made sense. The only thing left to do is come up with some spacers to center the unit in the steering tube. If those tubes were still available then switching to to hydraulics for an inline would be very simple. Maybe SeaStar could make it as part of an inline 6 kit, but I guess there isn't enough of a market to make it profitable.

I have a new Seastar Pro for my unfinished V-King, and looking at the old and new...I like the old sliding system better, however I am not sure that old slider will take the punishment of the larger motors and running a surfacing prop set up..Don't know for sure.
Hope it all works out for you though...I am a big fan of the IL motors.

Yes, arrived yesterday. NOS, gold anodized. It's beautiful. I also found someone who is willing to make one now that I have dimensions. Can't wait to make the road trip to Canada to pick up the XS motor. Then I can mock everything up. I may have to hang the motor/SeaStar on the transom just so I can drink a cold beer and look at it.

Thanks for all of your help Mike. Hopefully our paths will cross sometime. I would love to see the twins on your Switzer in real life. Darrel
